Sid Espinosa is a city council member and former mayor of Palo Alto. He is also the director of corporate citizenship and philanthropy at Microsoft in the Silicon Valley.  He is a frequent lecturer on corporate social responsibility and philanthropic issues around the world. 

Sid’s career has spanned the government, business, philanthropic and nonprofit sectors. After working at the Democratic National Committee during the 1994 congressional campaigns, Sid joined the Clinton Administration working at the White House and as an advisor to U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno at the U.S. Department of Justice. He later worked for an American ambassador overseas. In the philanthropic sector, Sid is the former director of global philanthropy for Hewlett-Packard, where he oversaw the investment of hundreds of millions of dollars in non-profits and schools in all 50 U.S. states and 60 countries around the world.

In 2008, Sid was listed among the “40 under 40” of Silicon Valley, an annual list of “rising stars in the Valley,” and in 2011 he was awarded the Humanitarian of the Year Award by Hidden Villa. Sid has served on numerous boards of directors for business, non-profit and educational organizations around the world, including the board of trustees at his undergraduate alma mater, Wesleyan University.  He also holds a graduate degree from Harvard.
