Originally studying to become a teacher, Sean graduated from Sacramento State University with a social science degree.  A battle with leukemia led to new goals and a new career path, and while still undergoing treatment, Sean decided to enroll in the Horticulture Program at City College of San Francisco. He started Green Shelter Landscaping in 2003 and in just six years, what began as a small maintenance company has grown into a fully functioning landscape design firm. Boulders, local plants and other garden elements give Green Shelter gardens an organic, distinctive style.

A South San Francisco native, Sean's first community involvement was on the Beautification Committee. He also participated in the inaugural Citizens Academy and currently sits on the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Day in the Park Committee and the Improving Public Spaces Committee, where he helped plan and implement improvement projects at West Orange Library, Joanne's Triangle, the Sister Cities/Hillside Planting,  Sculpture Garden and the Native Garden in Orange Park.  In 2008 Sean taught "Gardening and Landscaping" for the city recreation department and this year he's hoping to develop a native garden with the Parkway Heights Middle School Ecology Club.
