Affectionately known as the “Drama Mama,” Barbara Williams taught high school Theatre and English classes in the Newark Unified School District for 39 years, directing countless plays and musicals, including The Laramie Project, Les Miserables, Surface Transit, West Side Story, and Fiddler On The Roof. After she retired in June 2004, Barbara moved to El Granada near Half Moon Bay and continues to direct plays for various Bay Area community theatre groups, focusing mainly on Pacifica Spindrift Players, as well as occasionally directing and Stage Managing for Coastal Repertory Theatre in HMB, and Stage 1 theatre in Newark who perform at Newark Memorial High School, where she used to teach. She also volunteers for other theatre jobs, like Producing, Stage Managing, Sound Designing, & Prop Mistress, as well as operating lights and sound. Other than the theatre and film, her passions are her amazing Border Collie, Dakota, editing video on the computer, and watching her favorite sports team, the San Francisco Giants! GO GIANTS!!!
