Students Need Your Help for Honduras Service Trip

Your dollars and labor stay in the community when you contribute to these upcoming fundraisers and volunteer opportunities.

South San Francisco is a city full of active people, and every weekend it seems like there's a pasta dinner or a crab feed to raise money for a worthy cause. Patch will try to keep you up to date with a weekly rundown of upcoming fundraisers and volunteer opportunities.

, Saturday, April 28.

Community members are invited to join the South San Francisco Kiwanis Club in refurbishing the baseball fields in preparation for the Junior Giants season. Volunteers will sand and paint bleachers and signs, remove graffiti and debris and plant next to the fields. For $10, South San Francisco High School students planning a service trip to Honduras this summer will wash your car. Proceeds will go toward their one-week trip where they plan to build schools for impoverished children. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at , 400 B Street. $10 per car.

, Monday, May 7.

Listen to Lori Goler, Facebook's Vice President of People, speak at this annual fundraiser for the Housing Endowment and Regional Trust of San Mateo County. From 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the South San Francisco Conference Center, 255 South Airport Boulevard. $50 per person.

, Tuesday, May 8.

Wear exercise clothes and shoes to this fundraiser for South San Francisco High School students planning to travel to Honduras this summer to build schools for impoverished children. The exercise craze Zumba marathon goes from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at , 400 B Street. $10 suggested donation.

, Wednesday, May 9.

This fashion show, complete with raffle and silent auction, is the Canadian Women's Club biggest event of the year. Proceeds go to Bay Area charities. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the , 599 Railroad Avenue. Tickets are $45; follow the link above to register.

, Saturday, May 19.

Help clean up a trash hot spot for National River Cleanup Day and prevent garbage from flowing into the San Francisco Bay. Meet at Utah Ave & Harbor Way at 9 a.m. and bring sunscreen, water and a snack. Long pants and close-toed shoes are recommended.
