Weekend To Do List

Have you been meaning to volunteer, go for a hike, see an art exhibition, or get to know more of South San Francisco? Patch is here to help.

With so much going on in South San Francisco this summer, it can be difficult to keep track. Don't miss out -- now is the time to jump into the action. Here are a few highlights of things to do this weekend.

  • Sign up for Discover & Go Network, South San Francisco Library's two-month old program that allows you to get in free to a long list of museums and cultural institutions in the Bay Area, just by having having a library card.
  • Donate a backpack or supplies to the South San Francisco Back to School Backpack Program.
  • Give yourself and your family or friends a walking tour of public art in South San Francisco. There's bound to be some suprises.

Saturday

  • Colma Creek Clean-up at Haskins Way and E. Jamie Ct., 9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. with the South San Francisco Fire Department Community Preservation Task Force.
  • San Bruno Mountain Watch founder David Schooley will host a hike in Owl and Buckeye Canyons at San Bruno Mountain. Participants must sign up in advance. The hike is 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and will meet to begin at San Bruno Mountain Watch office.
  • Get your car washed to benefit the South San Francisco Warriors Marching Band & Guard from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at South San Francisco High School parking lot on El Camino Real and Ponderosa Sts. Donations cheerfully accepted.

  • Attend a free workshop to learn the ins and outs of your Android. Verizon Wireless is hosting the event at 10:30 a.m. at 150 El Camino Real. Get more comfortable calling, surfing, texting with your phone.
