Serena Williams to Compete Against Stanford Players this Week

It's no surprise that Serena Williams will be the top seed when she arrives in Palo Alto this week to play in the Bank of the West Classic - but she'll have to beat Stanford's best.

Quick, Serena....store that that Wimbledon championship trophy you hoisted on Saturday, change your tennis outfit and get ready for your next challenger - Stanford junior Nicole Gibbs.

As reported in Monday's San Jose Mercury News, Serena Williams, fresh off her fifth Wimbledon championship last week, will be the top seed at the Bank of the West Classic that starts today at Stanford's Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Williams received a first-round bye, so won't play until Wednesday, where she'll face Gibbs, the 2012 NCAA singles and doubles champion.

Other top seeds include Marion Bartoli (2), Dominika Cibulkova (3) and Jelena Jankovic (4).
