Streets Alive
Streets Alive 2011 is a coordinated effort among cities across San Mateo County to close streets and open up public places for exercise, dancing, strolling, cycling, picnicking and play.
In South San Francisco, Grand Avenue will be closed to vehicles between Walnut Avenue and Linden Avenue. Activities will be offered between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., including; Zumba Dance/Exercise, Tai Chi, Hawaiian Dance, Bollywood Dance/Fitness, Fit Walk/Art Talk, Martial Arts, a children’s area and more.
Streets Alive in San Mateo County is building upon the global open streets movement. The movement originated in Bogota, Colombia, and has spread around the world to create free health and community-oriented events.
