Leap Sandcastle Contest

The Sandcastle Contest is Northern California's largest sandcastle building event. Leap hosts this fantastic competition between teams of architects, engineers, contractors, designers and local elementary school students each October at Ocean Beach.

Before the event, architects and builders meet with schoolchildren in the classroom to develop ideas based on a set theme. Plans are finalized, clay models are shaped, team structure and schedules are defined, and tasks are assigned, all in preparation for the big day.

As soon as the whistle blows signaling the start of the contest, four hours of intensive building begin.  By the end of the day, the beach will be transformed into a magical new land.
