Ham radio members of the South San Francisco Fire Department's all volunteer CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) are hosting its annual Field Day, June 23, 2012. Field Day is a 24 hour period where amateur radio operators communicate with one another across the country practicing their radio skills which may be called upon in the event of a regional or national disaster or emergency. Ham radio operators have often provided vital communications in times of hurricanes and other natural disasters. The public is welcome to observe the events and to participate if you have a ham radio license. If you don't have a license, then we are more than happy to talk to you about ham radio and what we do in CERT, and how to get a ham license.
