CSM Softball: El Camino Grad Helps Red-Hot Bulldogs Win 19th Straight

The red-hot Bulldogs clinch share of conference title as Pilster throws six innings of one-hit ball for 25th win.

SANTA CLARA _ College of San Mateo clinched at least a tie for the Coast North Conference softball title on Tuesday with a decisive 7-0  victory over host Mission.

CSM (35-3, 15-1), the state’s winning team, extended its state-leading winning streak to 19 games and has a two-game lead with two games remaining.

Capuchino High grad Michele Pilster (25-2), the state's co-leader in victories, struck out 12 batters in six innings of one-hit ball. Amelia Shales (Notre Dame-Belmont) pitched a scoreless seventh in a non-save situation.

Lindsay Handy (Hillsdale), and Selina Rodriguez (El Camino) each had two hits and scored two runs. Rodriguez had two doubles.  

Jamie Navarro (Capuchino) also scored two runs to bring her season total to 44 - second best in Northern California.

Rodriguez has scored 40 runs.

Handy had a double and had two RBI (her 38 are fourth best in Northern California).

Vika Kafoa (Capuchino) and Mikayla Conlin (Mater Dei) each went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Jenn Davidson (Carlmont) extended her perfect season without striking out. She ranks No. 1 in Northern California for the most at bats (46) without fanning. 

The Bulldogs host sixth-place Chabot on Saturday and nine-time defending champion Ohlone (13-3) in the regular season finale on April 24. CSM beat both teams on the road in the first round -- 19-1 at Chabot and 1-0 at Ohlone.
