Shave and a Haircut: Band Edition

As the South San Francisco High School Band prepares to march in the National Independence Day Parade in Washington, DC, today, we take a look back at an earlier moment of glory.

South San Francisco High School Music Director Ben Latham knows how to motivate his student musicians.

He organized fundraisers all year .

And earlier this year, he told his students he would shave his head if they took first place in a competition.

Well, the color guard got a first place trophy in the Tournament of Champions in Fairfield, Calif., and in February he kept his word.
