School Board to Hold Special Meeting to Discuss Graduation

The meeting comes in the wake of community outcry over a decision to allow some students who hadn't completed credits to participate in graduation.

The school board sent out a notice Monday morning announcing a Tuesday night.

The forum, which will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the library, comes in the wake of community outcry over at and South San Francisco high schools.

Acting Superintendent Adolfo Melara notified high school principals Thursday night that certain students who hadn't completed credits but would be able to complete them over the summer would be allowed to walk in graduation. His decision was in line with board policies adopted last fall.

Previously, only students who had completed graduation requirements were allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.
