Pencils Ready: Doodle 4 Google Contest Accepting Submissions

Local kids have a chance to follow up on last year's South City win.

Last year, put South City on the map when he won the Doodle 4 Google Contest, beating out 107,000 entries with his outer-space themed take on the Google logo.

Now, another South City kid has a chance to take Matteo's mantle and get their drawing on Google's homepage.

Google has launched the 2012 contest with the theme, "If I could travel in time, I'd visit..."

K-12 students are invited to submit their interpretations of these theme using Google's logo between now and March 23. 

The grand prize winner, announced in May, will win a $30,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 technology grant for their school, a trip to New York for the awards ceremony, a computer and other prizes.
