Monte Verde Teachers Grace the YouTube Screen

Three local teachers star in a Google-produced video promoting the Doodle 4 Google contest.

Three Monte Verde teachers have hit the small screen.

Mr. Stewart, Miss Fiorito and Miss Cheit are the stars of a Google-produced YouTube video promoting the that already has over 22,000 hits.

In the video, they talk about the impact a new Google-funded roaming computer lab has had on their teaching. The school won the lab as part of student in the 2011 contest.

"For the first time, all of my students will have access to the internet simultaneously to conduct their research," Cheit said.

The theme for this year's contest is: "If I could travel in time, I'd visit..." The grand prize winner will win a $30,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 technology grant for their school and will see their work on the Google homepage. Entries are due March 23.

Contest entrants will have to be pretty fancy with their pens and pencils, though. Matteo beat out 107,000 entries to win last year.
