Where are you from and what brought you here?

I grew up and live currently in San Bruno. My parents' house was on the border of South San Francisco and San Bruno. I started teaching as an intern at Parkway Heights, which was a great experience and also I have family and friends that live in South San Francisco.

What's your background in education?

My background is in special education, and I also was a coach for junior varsity basketball and varsity baseball at South City.  I taught one year at Parkway and the rest have been at South City. Now I am the new assistant principal of attendance and discipline at El Camino High School.

What excites you about working in South City in particular?

I love the diversity of our student population and the sense of community each of our schools have. What excites me about working in South City are the kids, teachers, community leaders, and parents who go above and beyond to help the schools and kids.

What are the best and toughest parts of your job?

The toughest part of the job is going to be having difficult conversations with parents and students at times when one is not being successful at school.  The best will be the interaction with the students who will help keep me young at heart.

Are there any events, deadlines, or programs you want to remind students or parents about?

Back To School Night for El Camino High, for students and for parents to get involved, is Sept. 11.
