Local Second Grader Wins National Google Contest

Matteo Lopez's artwork will be displayed in the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, SFMOMA., and tomorrow on Google.com.

Tomorrow, local Monte Verde second grader and budding artist takes his work national.

As the recently announced national winner of the Doodle 4 Google contest, Lopez's outer-space themed take on the Google logo will be on the Google homepage Friday.

His piece will also be displayed in the Whitney Museum of American Art and SFMOMA. The talented student has won a $15,000 college scholarship and a $25,000 technology grant for his school.

Lopez beat out 107,000 entries and was chosen as one of 40 finalists by a panel of celebrity judges. But in the end, : the national winner was chosen by popular online vote.

Lopez is in New York City, where the results were announced today. He'll appear on the Today Show tomorrow.
