Making A Change

The children are our future, and unless we stand up for their right to get a quality education, we as parents have failed.

My name is Reem Nasarh, and I am a parent at in South San Francisco. I will be blogging on a regular basis about various subjects. Some might be off-the-wall things that I experience at a particular time.

This subject happens to be about children’s education and the lack of parent involvement. The information I provide is my opinion and if one cares to comment back, feel free to do so. For me, communication is the key to success.

I started becoming much more active when I started educating myself on matters that concerned my children’s education and the education of others. It is quite disturbing to see the lack of efforts on some of the paid employees in our district and our city. Unfortunately, our world revolves around money and our elected officials need to get their priorities straight: THE CHILDREN NEED TO COME FIRST!

I have lived in South City for over 14 years now and I am concerned about where are city and government has placed our children’s education: on the back burner. We as parents and citizens have to speak up and unfortunately due to all of our busy schedules, our time is short, but we need to be more active. We cannot expect our appointed officials to do the job because unless we, the people, keep our eyes and ears open, we become clueless.

I know that time is of essence to everyone and we all make choices but, my God, isn’t your child worth it. Please try to make an effort to get involved and learn what is happening in your child’s world. When your eyes see the inequality towards your child, you too will join the crusade “TO MAKE A CHANGE”.

By voicing my opinion I do not want to forget to acknowledge those that do put in the efforts and put their heart and soul in believing that children do come first.
