The will utilize various forms of funding for the project.

“It’s brought us to some creative financing situation where we needed to come up with the money to pull this off,” said Terry White, director of Public Works. “What we have done is we are asking the contractor to do the work, but on the playground equipment we are going to buy that ourselves to save a little bit of money.”

The money initially raised for the Westborough pool construction, various grants and Proposition 12 funds will provide additional funding, White said. But, White said, the city still fell short.

“We’re looking at borrowing some money from one zone to be placed into this zone to make this happen with a repayment out in the future,” White said.

South San Francisco is broken into four Park in Lieu zones.

Westborough, which resides in Zone 1, will attain a loan from Zone 2, which includes the Buri Buri and Winston Manor areas.

The council unanimously approved awarding the construction contract to Robert A. Bonham, Inc. for $1,988,500.
