Ready to fill up your calendar? This week, South City has special events at the library, a Friends of the Library mega-book sale, and a special visit from the state superintendent of schools.
On Monday, Tom Torlakson, California State Superintendent of Public Instruction, will be the keynote speaker during a Clean, Renewable Energy Dedication. The public is invited. 10 a.m. at , 900 Alameda de Las Pulgas, San Mateo.
Also on Monday, the Grand Avenue Branch Library at 306 Walnut Ave. hosts a bilingual Spanish/English Bouncing Bebés Story Time for children ages 4 - 18 months old from 10:30 -- 11 a.m.
And Monday evening from 6 -- 7 p.m. The Main Library at 840 West Orange Ave. hosts Family Story Time for children preschool and up.

On Tuesday at 9 a.m. the Board of Supervisors meets. 400 County Center in Redwood City.
Also Tuesday, from 6 to 7 p.m., the Library Board meets in the main library auditorium, 840 West Orange Ave.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, the South San Francisco City Council meets in the Municipal Services Building Community Room, 33 Arroyo Dr.
Thursday, it's story time for toddlers ages 18 months to 3 years at the Grand Avenue Branch library, 306 Walnut Ave. from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Saturday at 10 a.m., Friends of the South San Francisco Library opens its Fall Book Sale. Main Library, 840 West Orange Ave.
At 9 a.m. Saturday, be there for the . On Orange Avene at Tennis Drive.
And all week long from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the city's Mercury Fever Thermometer Exchange goes on, through Oct. 31 at the Public Works Corporation Yard, 550 North Canal St.
