Senator Visits City Council

Senator Leeland Lee visited the South San Francisco City Council to introduce his new staff representing San Mateo County.

Senator Leeland Yee (D-San Francisco) paid a visit to the members of South San Francisco City Council Wednesday to introduce new representatives and share a few words on redevelopment.

“I wanted to come by because I have a new team of individuals representing me in San Mateo County,” he said.

Dan Lieberman, recently appointed as District Director of San Mateo County for Yee, selected a new team of Yee representatives for South City, Yee said.

“He has been pulling together a rather strong team, a young team, to represent different cities,” Yee said.

Representatives from South San Francisco are Marianella Aguirre, Kevin Fong and Denis Quinn.

“Whatever we can do to be of help to your city,” Yee said. “We are at your beck and call.”

Council member Karyl Matsmoto took the opportunity to thank the senator for his appearance and earlier support.

“It’s been a different struggle for all of us who support redevelopment,” Yee said.

The senator said there will be an ongoing discussion of redevelopment because, though it he considers it important, the governor’s budget limits redevelopment.

“Unfortunately,” he said. “Everything now seems tied to the budget.”
