The San Mateo Bridge will close for two weekends in October to allow construction crews to replace bridge decks and a cracked beam discovered two years ago, according to an article on SFGate.com.
The bridge will be shut down from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday on the weekends beginning Oct. 19 and Oct. 26.
During the shutdown, Caltrans crews will remove and replace the bridge decks on the part of the span between the elevated segment and the trestles, along with a cracked beam discovered during a routine inspection in October 2010.
Drivers will be urged to take alternate routes during the closures, including the Dumbarton Bridge and the Bay Bridge.
