Hill Gets Nod from Dems in Senate Run

Assemblymember Jerry Hill is running for State Senate in District 13.

The California Democratic Party endorsed Jerry Hill for State Senate on Sunday at a gathering in Palo Alto.

Hill received nearly 80 percent of all the votes cast--an overwhelming endorsement for the current State Assemblyman from San Mateo.

Delegates from throughout the newly created 13th Senate District voted 63-9 to endorse Hill; eight votes were also cast for "no endorsement." Hills' percentage of the vote, (78.75 percent) marks the largest vote total of any candidate seeking the party's endorsement throughout the state in Sunday's voting.

"I am honored by the endorsement of the Democratic Party and the support of the voters in the June primary election," said Hill, "and I look forward to continuing our successful grassroots campaign through to the general election."

The general election will take place on November 6, 2012 where Hill will face-off against former Assemblymember Sally Lieber.
