PG&E on Thursday will begin filling the first segment of the since the 2010 pipeline explosion in the Crestmoor neighborhood.
The work will start on Thursday and continue on Friday on Glenview Drive between Claremont Drive and Plymouth Drive. PG&E abandoned the section of Line 132 that runs through San Bruno—from PG&E's San Andreas station on Skyline Boulevard to the Healy station on Crestwood Drive—after residents and city officials demanded that the utility remove the pipeline from the neighborhood, where it ruptured near Glenview Drive and Earl Avenue and left eight people dead and 38 homes destroyed.
The public will be allowed to view the construction work from a designated area at 1110 Fairmont Drive, the city said.
After the city got feedback from Crestmoor residents about what should be done with the abandoned pipe, the city from San Bruno Avenue to Sneath Lane along Glenview.
The pipe will be filled with cement through tubes already installed on the line and the project is expected to take about three weeks to complete.
Glenview Drive will be temporarily closed during the construction.
The city also said there will be an to make sure PG&E's work is done properly.
