Celebrating the Centennial of Women's Right to Vote in California, a League of Women Voters Luncheon

The League of Women Voters of North and Central San Mateo County is holding a luncheon to honor three outstanding members of the community, Patricia Ronald, Warren Slocum and May-Blossom Wilkinson.  Sue Lempert will be Master of Ceremonies at this celebration of women winning the right to vote in California 100 years ago.

Before women had the right to vote throughout the United States, California women achieved that goal when Proposition 4 passed in the October 10, 1911 election.  Civic Leagues formed in some California communities become local Leagues of Women Voters after the LWVUS was formed.  California was the sixth state to grant women suffrage.
