Council Passes Extension of Medical Marijuana Dispensary Moratorium Unanimously

The moratorium on issuing permits for medical marijuana dispensaries will extend through Oct. 27, 2011.

City council members voted unanimously Wednesday night to extend the city's moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries for another year.  The moratorium has been in place since last October and now extends through Oct. 27, 2011.

The city elected to extend the moratorium rather than rewrite zoning laws to include dispensaries. This was in part prompted by upcoming state ballot Proposition 19, which will come before voters in November and, if passed, will legalize marijuana statewide. Council members decided to wait for the outcome of that vote before making zoning decisions.

Though the moratorium extends through October 2011, the council can choose to terminate it early through a council vote.

Every year I buy more school supplies and art supplies for the teachers and they know they canRead More always count on me for more whenever needed. I'm a strong believer in encouraging children to be creative and get rid of the barriers to the freedom of self expression.

We help by asking teachers if they need anything. They'll drop hints and we'll go and purchase theRead More products. Most, if not all, parents are willing to help their children's classes if they are able to. It's really unfair for the teachers to purchase supplies out of their own pockets.
