Woman Hit by Bus Was Daly City Resident

Eileen Barrett, 72, died at a hospital from injuries suffered when struck by a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus near Lake Merced Saturday.

A woman who died at a hospital after being struck by a San Francisco Municipal
Railway bus near Lake Merced over the weekend was identified as a Daly City resident.

Eileen Barrett, 72, was struck about 4:30 p.m. Saturday on Lake Merced Boulevard, near John Muir Drive, authorities said.

She was taken to a hospital in serious condition but doctors at first thought she would survive her injuries, said agency spokesman Paul Rose.

The bus operator will undergo drug and alcohol testing, as is standard protocol for such accidents, Rose said.

"While this incident is still under investigation, we offer our condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Barrett," Rose said.

"Our top priority is the safety of those who utilize San Francisco streets, and we
will work with authorities to find the cause of this accident in order to prevent it from happening again."

Every year I buy more school supplies and art supplies for the teachers and they know they canRead More always count on me for more whenever needed. I'm a strong believer in encouraging children to be creative and get rid of the barriers to the freedom of self expression.

We help by asking teachers if they need anything. They'll drop hints and we'll go and purchase theRead More products. Most, if not all, parents are willing to help their children's classes if they are able to. It's really unfair for the teachers to purchase supplies out of their own pockets.
