The victim remains in critical condition at San Francisco General Hospital.

A Daly City woman accused of throwing a pot of boiling water on her sleeping ex-husband pleaded not guilty Wednesday to assault, torture and other charges in connection with the attack.

Jesusa Ursonal Tatad, 39, who was divorced but still living with her ex-husband, allegedly waited for him to fall asleep on Nov. 26 then went into his bedroom with a pot of boiling water, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

Tatad allegedly poured the water on the victim, causing second-and third-degree burns over 60 percent of his head and body.

Prosecutors allege that when the victim ran into the bathroom afterward, Tatad hit him on the head with a baseball bat.

The victim was able to run out of their home and flag down a security guard, who called 911, according to the district attorney's office.

The man was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition in an intensive care unit. He has not been able to speak since the attack, prosecutors said.

Tatad was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, aggravated mayhem and torture.

She pleaded not guilty to all of those charges on Wednesday and remains in custody on $600,000 bail.
