A girl who died due to injuries suffered in the crash of Asiana Airlines Flight 214 at San Francisco International Airport last week was a Chinese citizen, according to the Chinese Consulate-General in San Francisco.

The victim, who had been in critical condition in a pediatric care unit at San Francisco General Hospital, succumbed to her injuries on Friday morning, according to hospital spokeswoman Rachel Kagan.

She is the third victim of the July 6 crash; two other Chinese girls, Ye Meng Yuan and Wang Lin Jia were pronounced dead that day.

The girl's family is requesting that the hospital withhold her name and details of her injuries, Kagan said.

According to Chinese state media reports, the girl was part of a group of students from a school in China's Zhejiang province visiting California. The other two girls who were killed were part of the same group.

Chinese Consul-General Song Ru'an expressed condolences on Friday to the victim on behalf of the San Francisco consulate. Asiana Airlines President and CEO Young-Doo Yoon issued its own statement after learning of the girl's death on Friday.

"My deepest condolences go out to the grieving family and loved ones of this passenger and to all those who have been affected by this regretful incident," he said. "We will devote all attention and efforts to support the families of the victims and expedited recoveries for the other injured passengers."
