Suspect In Maryland Bank Robbery Arrested for South City Carjacking
The man who carjacked someone on Mayfair Avenue this weekend was found to also be a suspect for a Maryland bank robbery.
A man wanted for a bank robbery in Maryland was arrested Saturday for a carjacking in South San Francisco, police said.
South San Francisco police said a man was at home unloading groceries from the trunk of his car in the 500 block of Mayfair Avenue when a stranger walked up and grabbed his keys.
The suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Eric Brandon Evans, of South San Francisco, got into the victim's car and started the ignition, police said.

The victim opened the passenger-side door and tried to take the keys back, but Evans allegedly pushed him out and drove away, heading west on Mayfair Avenue, police said.
Responding officers were not able to find the suspect or the stolen vehicle, but one officer apparently recognized the description of the carjacker as someone he had had contact with earlier in the day.

The victim and a witness identified Evans in a photo lineup, and a subsequent records check revealed that Evans had an outstanding arrest warrant for bank robbery in Maryland, police said.
At about 2:30 p.m., Evans was spotted outside the victim's home and was arrested for carjacking and the outstanding warrant.
The stolen vehicle was recovered a few blocks from the residence.
