An investigation into a string of nearly 50 auto burglaries at South San Francisco hotels and restaurants has resulted in the arrest of three men and a juvenile, police said today.
The burglaries, which have occurred over the past several months, generally involved the suspects smashing a vehicle window and grabbing property that was left unsecured and in plain view by the owners, police said. It was believed that the same group of suspects was committing the burglaries, but no suspects had been identified.
South San Francisco investigators staking out a business at 10 Airport Boulevard on Friday spotted a suspicious vehicle enter the parking lot. One person stepped out of the vehicle and began peering into car windows.
Police converged on the scene, and the suspects fled at a high speeds, but were stopped several blocks away. Burglary tools and other evidence were located in the vehicle, police said.
Police arrested one male juvenile and three adult males, including Antioch resident Donte Primus, 23 and San Francisco residents Ebony Manuels, 35, and Jabar Mabrey, 26.
All four were arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, attempted burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. Primus was also found to be on parole.
