SSF Man Struck by Car and Killed on Highway 101

Sidney Brown, 63, was on foot when he was struck by a car in Palo Alto on Wednesday morning.

A man who was struck and killed on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in Palo Alto early this morning has been identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as 63-year-old Sidney Brown of South San Francisco.

Brown was either standing or attempting to cross the freeway near Oregon Expressway when a Honda Civic struck him about 2:50 a.m. in the No. 2 lane, according to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Paul McCarthy.

McCarthy said the impact caused Brown to fly over the hood of the car, through the windshield and land in the passenger seat of the Civic.
