South San Francisco Prepares for National Night Out

The annual event promotes awareness of the role of law enforcement agencies as an integral part of communities throughout the nation.

In an effort to combat crime and foster community engagement, South San Francisco residents and business owners are being encouraged to participate in National Night Out activities Tuesday, Aug. 6.

The event is part of a national program launched in 1984 as “America’s Night Out Against Crime.”  The idea is to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
