Prepare for Disaster at the County Fair this Saturday

San Mateo County will help residents learn how to prepare for disasters of many kinds and make their own preparedness kits at the fair this Saturday.

Are you prepared in the event of a disaster such as a fire, an earthquake, a tsunami or an act of terrorism?

San Mateo County wants you to be, and so they are welcoming all to the County Fair this Saturday to learn how.

And, as your reward for learning, you can park and get into the fair for free!

Arrive between 10 and 11 a.m. this Saturday for the County's free Disaster Preparedness workshop, and your parking and admission will be free.

The Office of Emergency Services will teach first aid, police, fire and emergency equipment demonstrations, help your family come up with disaster plans, and how to assemble emergency kits to have on hand. Attendees can also take a fast and free course in basic CPR procedures.

The County Fairgrounds are located at 1346 Saratoga Ave. For more information on the fair, parking, ticket prices and public transporation routes, check out .

For more information on Disaster Preparedness Day, call the Office of Emergency Services at 650-363-4709 or the office of County Supervisor Adrienne Tissier at 650-363-4572.

Every year I buy more school supplies and art supplies for the teachers and they know they canRead More always count on me for more whenever needed. I'm a strong believer in encouraging children to be creative and get rid of the barriers to the freedom of self expression.

We help by asking teachers if they need anything. They'll drop hints and we'll go and purchase theRead More products. Most, if not all, parents are willing to help their children's classes if they are able to. It's really unfair for the teachers to purchase supplies out of their own pockets.
