Police Make Over 100 Gang-Related Arrests in 2011
Police focused on gang-related activities in 2011 in response to a shooting that left three dead at the end of 2010.
South San Francisco police made 118 gang-related arrests and seized 16 weapons in 2011.
The increased police action was in response to the at the end of 2010, Police Chief Michael Massoni told KCBS.
The city council hired four more police officers after the shooting and created a police department Neighborhood Response Team, which has allowed police to focus additional attention on community violence, Massoni told KCBS.
