Another accident on San Carlos Ave. closes street down for an hour.

A bike/truck collision closed down San Carlos Ave. for about an hour late last night, the latest in a series of accidents near the avenue.

Here are some late night photos of the aftermath.

How do you feel about all of the recent accidents on San Carlos Ave?

Do you have any further details about this? Where on San Carlos Ave did this happen? Any idea on exactly what happened? Are the people OK?

I hope Kenny and the Patch can get more details. It occurred on SC Ave at Phelps. The gentleman on the bike was injured, but the injuries didn't appear life threatening. I would like to see an update.

A speeding car headed east skipped the curve there just a few weeks ago and took out the crosswalk sign in front of Arudel Elementary. This is really becoming a dangerous corner but the city doesn't seem to be soon anything about the lack of sidewalks, speed bumps, etc. they are apparently putting in a lit crosswalk sign but that doesn't seem like it will do anything to stop the risk of speeding cars hitting the bike lane and pedestrians along the side of the road. Any ideas how to get the city to take this more seriously?

I believe the city is taking it seriously. San Carlos recently won a grant to improve the situation in that area. Details here: http://173.11.91.198/news/displaynews.asp?NewsID=868&targetid=1

People are driving too fast near Arundel. I know there is a grant to help make the drop off and pick of children safer but all need to be more aware of the surroundings. Between distracted parents and drivers with a need for speed, I am thankful nothing fatal has happened to date.
