Did you know that the South San Francisco Fire Department is holding an event next weekend?
This photo is of the banner currently up at the South City Fire Station 61 on North Canal St. and Spruce Ave.
Next Saturday, Sept. 29, the department will hold an open house and carnival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fire Station 61. The event is to kick off October as fire prevention awareness month.

Fire departments across the country use the week of October 8, the anniversary of the 1871 Chicago fire, to raise fire prevention awareness. South San francisco dedicates the entire month of October to fire safety, teaching prevention at each local elementary school.
