Pedestrian Hit on Grand Dies from Injuries

A senior pedestrian was hit by a vehicle downtown over the weekend.

On Saturday Oct. 27, a 74-year-old pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on the 300 block of Grand Ave., and died Tuesday at 1:40 p.m. as a result of injuries caused by the accident.

At 8:52 p.m. on the day of the collision, the pedestrian was crossing the street when hit. The victim sustained serious head injury and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

According to a South City Police press release, the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with police officers.

"This appears to be just an accident," South City Police Sgt. Bruce McPhillips said. "It doesn’t appear that there were any violations of the law."

The incident is currently under investigation.
