Motorcyclist Leads Cops on Chase, Breaks Ankle

The chase and crash occurred about 11:30 a.m., according to a fire chief

A motorcyclist trying to evade law enforcement officers in South San Francisco Monday led cops on a high-speed chase on the 101 Freeway and crashed, hurting himself in the process, a fire chief told Patch.

The incident began about 11:30 a.m., according to South San Francisco fire Chief Jesus Magallanes.

The rider reached speeds of more than 100 mph and when he went to exit at Grand Avenue, the bike slid out on the curve and he crashed, Magallanes told Patch.

Luckily, there was grass and dirt on the roadside and the driver had a soft landing, the chief said.

He broke his leg right above his ankle and was taken to a hospital, then later arrested, the chief said.
