A three-alarm brush fire at the base of San Bruno Mountain has consumed around seven acres and is about 50 percent contained, according to the North County Fire Authority.
The fire, located at the southern end of Bayshore Boulevard in Brisbane on the southeastern side of San Bruno Mountain, has prompted the closure of the northbound U.S. Highway 101 off-ramp to Bayshore. Flames and smoke are visible from the freeway near Sierra Point Parkway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reported just after 1:30 p.m., the grass fire is not threatening any homes or buildings and has not caused any injuries or evacuations, North County Fire Authority spokesman Matt Lucett said.
Windy conditions are slowing efforts to get it contained, however, and Lucett estimated fire crews would be on the scene at least three more hours. In addition to North County fire, firefighters from South San Francisco Fire have responded, and Cal Fire has provided air tanker planes and a helicopter, Lucett said.
Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.
