Hit and Run Convict faces up to 14 Years in Prison

Michael John Weiler's courtroom tenure was short lived on Friday.

Weiler, 27, was set to be on trial after being arrested on for a multitude of crimes in December. But the case was settled in a pre-trial conference and sentencing is now scheduled for Sept. 13.

According to San Mateo County District Attorney's Office notes, Weiler is accused of driving a stolen car on Dec. 19, 2012, and hitting a man getting out of his car to attend an All Souls Church Christmas Pageant.

Weiler did not stop after hitting the man, but security cameras caught the incident and police were able to track him back to his girlfriend's house in South San Francisco.

According to the DA, Weiler was later found with methamphetamine and a search of his home turned up ammunition and stolen property from a burglary in Millbrae four days earlier.

Weiler was arraigned on March 19 and has been in custody ever since on $150,000 bail.

On May 31, he entered a no contest plea to felony hit and run with great bodily injury. Because of his criminal history he faces up to 14 years in prison.
