High Winds Whip Vehicles on Most Bay Area Bridges

The California Highway Patrol has issued high wind advisories on most of the area's bridges.

While the rain has relented, windy conditions persist across much of the Bay Area and have prompted the California Highway Patrol to issue high wind advisories on most of the region's bridges.

According to the CHP, motorists should take care when driving across the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, Hayward-San Mateo Bridge, Dumbarton Bridge, Carquinez Bridge, Benicia Bridge and Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.

Several of those advisories were posted by the CHP late this morning, although conditions on the Bay Bridge and Richmond-San Rafael Bridge have remained windy since about 1 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service, winds of about 10 to 20 mph are expected around much of the Bay Area today and Sunday. However, the CHP uses independent criteria to issue its advisories.
