Police arrested South San Francisco resident Richard Cronin, 53, on Friday night after he struck two pedestrians with his van and then rear-ended a vehicle a few blocks away, according to police.
Police say Cronin was driving under the influence when he approached Williams Court from Radburn Drive. A 21-year-old woman and 23-year-old man had chased their dog into the street, and he hit both of them, police said. Cronin fled the scene, police said; the man suffered a broken hip and the woman a spine injury.
Cronin continued driving and hit a car a few blocks away, police said. Cronin kept going and was finally apprehended in the Westborough Square parking lot. Police determined he was driving under the influence and he was arrested and booked at the Redwood City Jail.
The two were treated at San Francisco General Hospital; the passenger of the rear-ended car also sought medical treatment.
