Crime Blotter: Drunk Grandmothers and Stolen Chocolate Cake

Selections from the police blotter for April 22-24.

Friday, April 22

2:21 a.m.  Police received a 911 call from a girl who said that her grandmother was driving drunk near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Airport Boulevard.

4:52 p.m.  Outside of First National Bank on El Camino Real, a woman was reportedly mugged for an iPod. She said that the suspect looked to be about 17 years old and was wearing all black.

5:41 p.m.  The window of a 1995 Jeep Cherokee was reportedly smashed on Beech Avenue. The reporting caller said that it did not appear that anything was taken from inside.

6:36 p.m.  A major injury accident occurred at Hickey Boulevard and Hilton Avenue, where a witness reported that a vehicle hit a pedestrian who was crossing the street.

10:09 p.m.  At Carl’s Jr. on Hickey Boulevard, a man reportedly entered the kitchen area and refused to leave. Employees said that he also stole some chocolate cake from inside.

Saturday, April 23

4:52 a.m.  Unidentified subjects were caught on a security camera attempting to steal tires off a vehicle parked at Hampton Inn on Gateway Boulevard. The suspects fled after security interrupted them.

10:16 a.m.  A witness reported seeing a man trying to force a female into a white Honda Civic at the Shell Station on El Camino Real. The caller said that the man also tried to remove his belt to hit her but could not get the belt off.

Sunday, April 24

5:52 a.m.  A report came in of a burglary at Travelodge on South Airport Boulevard, where a woman who said she was a nurse said that her medical bag with hundreds of dollars worth of medical equipment was stolen from her car. The vehicle had reportedly been parked there for about a week and a window had been smashed.

1:37 p.m.  At the Brentwood Service Station on El Camino Real, three vehicles reportedly filled up their tanks with gasoline and then left without paying. The caller said that the vehicles (a black Escalade, green Dodge and silver Nissan) left a credit card that did not work.
