Christmas Eve DUI Crash Injures Four in Colma

A three-car crash in Colma that sent four adults to the hospital with major injuries Tuesday morning appears to have been spurred by drunken driving, a Colma police detective sergeant said.

The crash involving a Ford truck, a Mercedes and a Mazda was reported around 8:45 a.m. on El Camino Real near Mission Road, across from the Cypress Park Memorial Lawn, Colma police Detective Sgt. Jason Wollman said.

The driver -- and only occupant -- of the Mercedes was transported to San Francisco General hospital with major injuries. Police said the driver is suspected of DUI.

The driver and two passengers in the Mazda were also taken to SF General with major injuries, Wollman said.

The truck driver, and only person in that vehicle, was not injured in the crash, Wollman said.

A DUI arrest is pending the results of toxicology reports, Wollman said.
