Child Molester Gets 180 Years in Prison

Gustavo Rosas Medina petitioned for a new trial but was denied.

A South San Francisco man was sent back in jail last week, never to leave, after being sentenced for molesting his daughter and step daughter.

Gustavo Rosas Medina, 50, was arrested in June of 2011 on 11 counts of oral copulation with a minor as well as several other charges after his wife found a note on her iPad from her daughters informing her of ongoing abuse.

Medina was found guilty on all counts after a 10-day trial last March. The jury deliberated for just two and a half hours before reaching its decision.

The defense filed a motion for a new trial, but was swiftly rejected late last week. Instead, according to San Mateo County District Attorney's notes, Medina was sentenced to 180 years to life in state prison with 671 days of credit for served time.

He was also ordered to pay $2,601 to the Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board and to register as a sex offender.
