Caltrain Fatality Near Poplar Avenue

This is the second person killed on the tracks in as many days.

For the second day in a row, a Caltrain train has struck and killed a person on the tracks in Burlingame.

The collision took place at about 4:30 p.m. today near Bellevue and Poplar avenues, just north of the Burlingame station.

The train was southbound train No. 362, according to Caltrain spokesperson Christine Dunn. Significant delays are expected, and once again Giants fans planning on taking the train to tonight's game should make other arrangements, she said.

Dunn said trains are stopped between the Millbrae and Hillsdale stations and a bus bridge is being set up to get passengers around that stretch. 

The is the second Caltrain fatality in as many days; yesterday, a man was  in Burlingame, about a half mile from this fatality. That person has not yet been identified.
