Brothel Mastermind Appears in Court

A man accused of running a brothel out of apartments in San Bruno and South San Francisco was scheduled to make a court appearance Monday morning.

Zhi Liu, 49, and his wife Wei Guo, residents of both San Bruno and South City, are accused of human trafficking first in Sacramento and subsequently in San Mateo County.

Liu, who went by "Bob" in his brothel days, was arrested on June 13 and has been held on $100,000 bail. He was set to appear before a judge and enter a plea today, according to San Mateo County District Attorney's Office notes.

Guo, who went by "Coco," is still on the run from police.

Bob and Coco's brothels specialized in asian prostitutes. The Department of Justice assisted in a takedown of the brothels on June 13, according to the DA.

Guo has been charged with human trafficking, procuring a person for prostitution and profiting from prostitution.
