Blotter: Angry Opossum Growls at Residents

The following information was supplied by the South San Francisco Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, July 11

5:55am  Officers received a report of a major injury accident at Skyline Boulevard and Sneath Lane, where a vehicle reportedly rolled over.

8:59am  At Orange Memorial Park, the window of a building behind the skate park was reportedly smashed sometime overnight. The reporting caller said that a toilet had also been broken inside.

10:48am  Officers were called to Starbucks on McLellan Drive, where it was reported that a transient male was inside asking customers for money and refusing to leave.

8:40pm  Officers received a reported of a robbery at the Shell Station on Airport Boulevard.

10:37pm  Police referred to the SPCA after receiving a report that an opossum was in a resident’s garage and was not leaving. The residents reportedly tried to shoo it out but the animal growled at them.

Tuesday, July 12

12:50am  The stereo was reportedly stolen out of a white Dodge Ram pickup parked at Comfort Suites on East Grand Avenue. The assailant(s) smashed a window to enter the vehicle.

3:54am  A Volkswagen pickup was reported as stolen from Baden Avenue. The key was reportedly left inside the vehicle.

10:13am  Officers took a report after an accident on South Airport Boulevard. The reporting caller said that the other party took off when asked for their information.

3:31pm  On Alida Way, a power line reportedly fell onto a parked car, causing damage to the vehicle. The victim said that a passing truck may have hit the wire and knocked it down.

8:24pm  Police were called to Kaiser on El Camino Real, where a female patient was reportedly using a fake name for services. Employees said that the woman had used various names to obtain prescriptions in the past.

Wednesday, July 13

3:09am  Officers made an arrest on Alida Way, where a resident called for assistance in removing her ex-husband from her apartment.

12:26am  Police sent a cover unit to Airport Boulevard, where a man reported that a former business partner had assaulted him, hitting him and then threatening him with a glass vase.

3:07pm  On Miltonia Drive, a resident called police to complain that a group of teenagers was practicing a dance routine in the street. The teens were reportedly gone when police arrived.

7:10pm  A young man was reportedly mugged near Safeway on Chestnut Avenue.  One of the boy’s parents said that the four assailants may have stolen his house keys.

8:41pm  Officers made an arrest on Tara Lane after a caller reported witnessing two men get out of a burgundy vehicle and then hide behind nearby bushes. One man looked to have a silver gun.
