UPDATED: Armed Robbery in Foster City Home

No injuries were reported

A Foster City resident was robbed at gunpoint inside his home on Wednesday afternoon, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded to a report of a home invasion robbery in the 300 block of Tampa Court at around 4:05 p.m., Foster City police Capt. Joe Pierucci said.

The resident had just arrived home from work when three suspects entered through an open garage door, Pierucci said.

The robbers confronted the man inside the home and asked him where he kept his money, Pierucci said. One was armed with a silver semiautomatic handgun.

The suspects then stole more than $200 in cash, an iPod, various credit cards and keys, police said.

The victim was forced into a closet, where he remained until he heard the robbers leave, Pierucci said.

He was not injured, and called police.

Arriving officers searched the neighborhood but did not find the suspects. All three were described as black men between 18 and 20 years old.

The suspect carrying the gun was about 5 feet 8 inches tall with an average build, a light complexion and short black hair. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

The two other suspects were described as about 6 feet tall, with slender builds and dark complexions. They were wearing black shirts, black pants and black beanies.

Anyone with information about the case or the suspects is asked to call Foster City police at (650) 286-3300.

Foster City is such a safe city. Yes, petty crime can and does happen, but for the most part it's considered a safe city. Let's be honest.....it's heavily white, Asian, and Indian (I'm just repeating the statistics). So, two black men loitering around a residential neighborhood would look very suspicious and they would look out of place. So now that this crime has been reported, these two men will make FC residents even more suspicious of any black men who actually live there and have legit business to conduct there.

Safe and the false sense of security is why they come here. I pass open garage doors every day when I walk my daughter to school. I hope our residents will be more careful. I meet my wife outside every night she comes home. There's been to much crime on our street and adjacent streets to have a false sense of security.

Foster City is very safe, but that doesn't mean we should wear blinders. Crime happens everywhere. Shut and lock all doors. Don't open the door to someone you don't know. Call 911 for any suspicious activity. We have a small town, so the police will be there in no time.
