The shooting occurred near Capuchino High School. The girl is currently in stable condition.

Monday, 12:50 p.m.: This article has been updated.

A 16-year-old girl was shot and injured near Capuchino High School in Millbrae Saturday night, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's
Office.

The shooting occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. Shots were reported near Santa Teresa Way and Park Boulevard, across the street from the high school, sheriff's office spokeswoman Rebecca Rosenblatt said Sunday.

The girl, a resident of South San Francisco, appears to have been on the street at the time of the shooting, Rosenblatt said.

She was in stable condition as of Sunday morning.

No further suspect or victim information was available as of Sunday evening, Rosenblatt said.

The school does not need this negative publicity. The girl was not shot at the school as the headline states. She was shot on a Millbrae residential Street. Post pictures of the actual property where it occurred. Making it sound like this was on school property is misleading.

Hey she was shot? Where REALLY doesn't matter! What's wrong with you people?
Jim C January 7, 2013 at 02:45 am
No kidding. Way to concentrate on what's important.
Alfonso Esqueda January 7, 2013 at 02:47 am
If the headlines said she was critical, Im sure more of us would be more courteous. but according the the news, her injury was superficial and she will be fine. Im glad she will survive. But I can tell you that I would rather have an honest story instead of some Hollywood headline that is jumping on a school shooting wagon. Its reckless journalism that puts the reputation of the school in jeopardy. I have devoted a lot of community volunteer hours to the San Bruno Schools to not speak my mind about this. So I'm sorry if I offended you because I wasn't more sincere to the 16 year old girl who was out at 10:30 pm at night.

Chris, Why would you think the police wont do an honest investigation? I dont see any political reason for them not too. It has been my experience with our local police department and San Mateo County that they do the best they can with the information they get or are given.

Wow! San Bruno Patch reported on a local story that I heard about 12 hours ago?
san bruno person January 7, 2013 at 03:03 am
I hardly ever comment on articles, but since Martin left there has been very few local articles on this website. I think I'll be going elsewhere for my local news. Any suggestions?
Alfonso Esqueda January 7, 2013 at 03:06 am
I was thinking the same thing. But maybe the patch will hire me and I will do stories for them.
Carol January 7, 2013 at 12:48 pm
I agree with others. Since Martin left, San Bruno Patch is lacking reporting anything current.
Izec January 7, 2013 at 01:17 pm
no, the neighborhood is literally 100% a quite one up until the other night. It is mostly made up of asian's and whites from what I have seen
Francie January 7, 2013 at 02:18 pm
Alfonso: I agree with you. The heading is VERY misleading. I read the article believing the shooting was at the high school during school hours.
Alma Llamas January 7, 2013 at 02:57 pm
Agree, it happened in Millbrae District, NOT SAN BRUNO.
Dana Facciano January 7, 2013 at 04:02 pm
Right, I heard about this story from a friend and went right to Patch and couldn't find it. I was surprised it just showed up here.
Harry E. Smith January 7, 2013 at 06:04 pm
Is any one surprised at the misleading sensationalism CONSTANTLY being put forth by Patch??? They skew their 'surveys' with inflammatory half truths to stir up controversy, and now just make up facts in actual news--even belatedly--to keep the fires going! If you want to build readership and interaction Patch, try being PROFESSIONAL in your reporting!
Rob Chapman January 7, 2013 at 08:08 pm
Agree with major misleading headline. The headline is clearly meant to imply that it was a SCHOOL SHOOTING, which it WAS NOT. This is unprofessional sensationalism, period. Shame on Patch.
Francie January 7, 2013 at 08:26 pm
Patch changed the title of the article to: "16-Year-Old South City Girl Shot Near High School in San Bruno" from "16-Year-Old South City Girl Shot at San Bruno High School."
Alfonso Esqueda January 7, 2013 at 08:33 pm
Now all they need to do is remove the pictures of the school!
Bryan Hashimoto January 7, 2013 at 09:37 pm
What because its in a white, and Asian neighborhood bad things can't happen? so iszac your saying only crimes are committed in black and Hispanic areas? People like you that classify races like that is the problem with society today!
Carol January 8, 2013 at 03:49 am
Alma, It's the San Mateo Union High School District. Cap is in San Bruno but this didn't happen at Cap. It happened near the school and Patch blew it (as usual lately). This site showed so much promise but now it is just somewhere people advertise their businesses and pretend they are experts on everything from real estate to manners.
larry January 8, 2013 at 12:13 pm
So...it's an asian drive by?
John Hanson January 9, 2013 at 10:49 pm
Sounds like a meeting place for a fight. One person shows up from SSF with lots of friends, the other with less friends, but a gun to make up for it. Just my opinion.
yazmin_lovesyou_carleyy February 16, 2013 at 06:27 am
